Fix OSHA 300A Summary Total Errors

Check case totals, injury and illness types, days away, and restricted-day consistency before filing.

Why this happens

Form 300A contains totals that describe the same cases in different ways. If case totals and injury/illness categories disagree, the file needs review.

What RuleTally checks
Administrative checks based on the current published ITA file guidance.
  • Case outcome totals versus M1–M6 totals
  • Days-away cases versus days-away days
  • Restricted cases versus restricted days
  • Zero-case code versus non-zero totals
  • Employee and total-hours plausibility warnings

How to fix it

  1. 01

Reconcile the summary against the underlying 300 Log.

  2. 02

Correct the source record rather than forcing totals to match.

  3. 03

Document any human judgment outside RuleTally.

  4. 04

Confirm the corrected CSV in ITA Preview.

Check the whole file locally.
